The Dandelion Collective is a Seattle based group of artists, programmers and thinkers using new media to help understand our world.
Show the beauty in the everyday.
Inspire creation.
Help people understand the potential of technology, both the positive and negative.
Promote the positive use of technoloy.
The primary expression of the dandelion collective has been through live video performance at raves
and art based events. These shows have typically involved an extended time of preparation including:
concepting for the show, shooting relevant clips, mining the wealth at the neighboorhood video store,
and creating clips using off the shelf software or custom built software.
The shows further the dandelion goals in several ways:
By shooting video in familiar locations, but
with a new perspective, or simply by showing them in a new context, we are able to reawaken people to the richness of
the world we inhabit. The quantity of our own footage (vs. movies or television video) that we use in
our shows, encourages people to create by showing them that it is not that hard to create quality footage.
And, like any artists, the simple act of doing what you believe in encourages other people to reconsider their goals and
pursue what is truly important to them.
